Clean & Safe
Many commercial scented candles are made with paraffin wax, which is derived from petroleum and may release carcinogenic, harmful chemicals, such as toluene and benzene, when burned.
Even those that made with soy wax, the candles are scented using fragrance oil (or natural fragrance). Those scents, despite being called ‘natural’, are still derived synthetically from laboratory. Long term usage may increase the risk of allergy. Some cheap fragrance oil even
contains hormonal disruptor such as phthalates.
There is also risk with essential oil scented candles. When burning a candle, the wick and wax can reach high temperatures, typically around 93C or higher. This intense heat may breakdown the essential oil particles releasing harmful organic compounds.
The melting point of beeswax is only 62-64C. Scented beeswax melts made with pure essential oil is definitely a cleaner and safer choice.
