Our Body’s Intelligent

Self-healing Power

Our body is a very intelligent design. Each part and system have self-healing power and can maintain itself. BUT, we do need to input the right fuel for it to function. Just like you need to put in fuel for a car to function.

Green Juice is the perfect fuel for the body as it contains nutrients that you cannot find in any other food sources.

Glucosinolates can be richly found in cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli. Glucosinolates are converted to range of isothiocyanates (ITCs) and sulforaphane. These are important compounds that enhance the detoxification of the liver, provide anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory effects. [1][2][3][4][5]

Chlorophyll is another substance that can only be found in plants. Chlorophyll can bind with carcinogens and endocrine disruptors and eliminate them from the body. Chlorophyll helps protect our body and let it function properly. [6][7][8][9][10]

However, these substances, along with other nutrients, can be drastically destroyed and reduced by cooking, up to more than 90%. And the essential enzyme, myrosinase, for sulforaphane conversion is inactivated by heat. Despite our colon has this enzyme, only 10-15% can be converted. [11][12][13]

This is why it is best to eat vegetable raw to get the most healing power from the nature. This is why our Green Juice uses only raw vegetables that provides the maximum goodness.

Housekeeping

Green Juice is like supporting a group of housekeepers to clean up and maintain your house, i.e. the body.

As the housekeepers do the clean-up, they are going to remove dust and dirt from the house. They need to throw away all the trash. Your skin, lungs, colon, kidneys, eyes, ears, nose/sinuses and throat are all outlets for the housekeepers to dump out the waste.

Before they can tidy up (and even renovate) the house, they must first dump out the wastes.

Detox Effect

Keeping our houses clean is very important so that we can live with optimum strength and efficiency. ‘Detoxification’ not only means cleansing, but also activating enzymes to alter and neutralize toxins for elimination. Good fuel – the nutrients in Green Juice – is essential for the body to carry out this process. [15]

When some people first started to drink green juice, they may experience a phase of transition before they could feel better. As the body starts to dump out waste, this may cause a temporary imbalance of intermediate toxins and result in discomfort. The resulted symptoms are called the detox effects, or some called it ‘healing crisis’. [16][17]

Below is a list of symptoms that you may feel during this transition, extracted from the Nutrition Programme book
(designed for cancer patients) written by medical doctor Dr. M.K. Strydom. [18]

Loss of energy/weakness/fatigue

Fever, headaches, light-headedness and
nausea

Pimples/skin rash

Flu-like symptoms (such as a runny nose or
coughing up phlegm)

Constipation/Diarrhoea

Frequent urination

Crusty eyes in the morning, or mucus
coasting that causes you to rub them

A white coating may form on your tongue

Body odour/bad breath

Sore joints or muscles or pain in an area (where
you previously had a physical problem)

Difficulty in concentrating

Nervousness/irritability/mood swings

Inability to sleep well

Feeling generally under the weather

The detox symptoms may last few days to a week and depends on the person. It is possible that you may feel nothing at all too!

If you have serious or chronic illness and are taking chronic medication, you may first consult a qualified medical professional that has specialized knowledge on nutrition.

Ways to Ease Detox Effect

1. Rest more

Fatigue is a common symptom during detox. Do rest more if you feel tired. Some may feel weakness as the body uses energy for healing or repair. So allow yourself extra time to rest and sleep during this detoxing period.

2. Stay hydrated

Stay hydrated is very important as water helps flush out the toxin from the body. So drink plenty of water. You may also add lemon which aids in digestion, or swap to caffeine-free herbal tea.

3. Adjust your diet

Limit the intake of sugar, coffee and alcohol. Avoid food that are filled with MSG, flavour enhancers and food colourings. All these only add extra load to your body while detoxing.

Try to eat more plant-based food and cooked vegetables to support your body’s natural elimination process.

Adjust your diet is an important way to sustain your health!

4. Walk in nature

Few breaths of fresh air can help calm your mind. Trees also release negative ion which helps to regulate sleep and mood, reduce stress, and boost the immune system.

5. Sweat it out

Sweating is another way the body gets rid of toxins. A warm bath or moderate exercise can assist in that effort. Exercise can also help with lymphatic system. Avoid intensive workouts and weightlifting if you are feeling fatigue.

Avoid deodorants as they inhibit sweating. Your arm pits (where lymph nodes are located) are designed to sweat
for a reason. Blocking them causes the toxins to go back into the lymphatic system.

6. Minimize Toxic Exposure

As the body dumps out waste and be renewed, it may become more alert and sensitive on harmful substances. You may start checking the skincare, cosmetics, body wash, shampoo and hair dyes that you are using. We have to be wise in selecting products as you don’t want to add back toxic poisons to the body.

EWG rating is a good reference to see the ‘safety scoring’ of a product.
